"Kalki 2898 AD" stands out as a remarkable achievement in Indian cinema. Directed and written by Nag Ashwin, this film masterfully intertwines elements of Mahabharata with futuristic technology.
Captivating Visuals, Star Cast & Creative Storytelling
The storytelling is captivating, with characters that bring the narrative to life and visual effects that are nothing short of spectacular. It is safe to say that this film sets a new benchmark in Indian cinema.
The visual effects are on par with Hollywood's best, rivaling the grandeur of Marvel and DC movies. The plot is well-paced, ensuring that viewers remain engrossed from start to finish. There are no dull moments, and the audience reviews reflect this sentiment. The fight sequences, in particular, are a visual delight.
Nag Ashwin has done an exceptional job with the casting. Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, and Deepika Padukone deliver performances that live up to their illustrious reputations.
B&B: Bujji and Bhairava
Prabhas shines in the role of Bhairava, and his chemistry with his vehicle, Bujji, adds an intriguing dynamic to the story.
The prequel animation series, "B&B: Bujji and Bhairava," available on Amazon Prime, is a fantastic complement to the film. Watching the series beforehand enhances the movie experience, making it almost inevitable that viewers will want to see the movie in theaters.
Creating a sci-fi film that features characters named and connected to the Mahabharata, such as Ashwathama, Karna, Lord Krishna, and Arjuna, without offending anyone is a feat in itself. The movie leaves audiences eagerly anticipating the next installment, promising even greater spectacles.
Criticism
While opinions may vary, the few negative reviews seem to be more about personal bias than any actual flaws in the film.
My only minor criticism is with the Telugu dubbing for some characters (I watched the movie in Telugu). I also thought the appearance of the younger version of Amitabh Bachchan's character, Ashwathama, could have been better 😬. Disha Patani's character 'Roxie' felt like a deliberate attempt to add glamour, and the song 'Ta Takkara' had some logical flaws in my opinion.
